"Want something to drink?"

Not really, Jay thought to herself as she watched Mimic move to the kitchen again, I'd rather like an answer bout that government work.
But that argument was lost before it was started as she heard a soda bottle being opened and almost reluctantly followed Mimic.
She took her drink and turned to look at Fidget who was now in the chip bag eating as many chips he could peck into small enough size for him to swallow.
"Uhm, Fidget eats what ever he can get a hold of, and right now it looks like he's making quick work of your chips." Jay nodded her head over to the bag.

Jay listened care fully to his job description and shuddered at the thought of a huge blood and chemical monster and put her drink on the counter, deciding she didn't want it right then. Fidget popped his head out of the bag at the sound of the cup on the counter and flew over to it and landed on the rim and dipped his beak into it and took a drink, looking ridiculously like those wooden dippy birds.

Jay stroked her small feathered friend,"so, short of the fact that he works for the government, you think we can trust him?"
Fidget took another sip from the soda and shook his feathers out, almost falling off the rim of the cup then looked over at the chip bag. "well, I would think so. he did give us food and shelter."
"ok, but if we wake up dead tomorrow I'm going to kick your feathered butt." Jay warned.
Fidget opened his beak to argue with her but then closed it and flew over to the top of a counter to sleep.
Jay turned her attention to Mimic and walked over to the other side of the couch and sat in it as if it was suddenly going to close shut on her and eat her and folded her wings tightly against her shoulders.

"So tomorrow we split, right?" she asked, though she knew she was talking to herself.

again no response except for the small snore of the blue bird.
"Night Fidget," Jay yawned and closed her eyes waiting for a while before she finally drifted off to a light sleep.

Jay hadn't expected him to pop up out of no where and jumped when she realized he was there. She didn't even bother turning to face him when he started to tell her off about stealing a couple hot dogs. It wasn't like it would of been the end of the world or anything. She bit her lip as she realized that he had planned on letting her and Fidget stay with him, she hadn't realized that was a possibility.
Well, guess I don't have that invitation any more, Jay thought angrily. She continued to stare off the edge of the building until he left.
Jay let out a huff then turned to Fidget, "Well, guess we should go find some place else to sleep tonight."

"How are you so calm about this?" Fidget demanded, he apparently was not happy about losing a warm and well supplied sleeping place.

"Well, what do you want me to do?"Jay asked, getting frustrated. She had just been lectured on how it was wrong to steal food to survive, now her friend was going to yell at her about being calm.

"You could go apologize," Fidget offered.

Jay gave him her a 'do you really think I'm going to do that?' face then turned toward the side of the building again. She didn't think it was her fault, so why did she have to apologize?

"Well, we can sit here or we can go find a place to sleep before ti gets to dark."

"Jay, its only about noon," Fidget argued.

"And if we don't find a good spot to sleep, the stupid pidgins will get all the good places," she argued back.

"Your just trying to avoid this discussion aren't you?"

Jay didn't answer, instead she took off from the building and headed the opposite direction then Mimic.

Jay leaned against a wall in an alley, jacket over her shoulders and Fidget sitting on her shoulder. She sighed in frustration. Frustration at herself.

She had managed to mess up a great oprotunity that would have gotten Fidget and her off the streets and into a house. But she guessed it was to lae to do anything about it now. She turned and walked further into the alley, hoping to avoid as many people as she could.

She turned into a dead end where several boxes and mattresses lay behind an old store that she guessed was out of business. She looked over at her friend who investigated the area quickly then returned. "There's no one here. I vote we take this as an opportunity to claim this spot.

Jay nodded, not really wanting to even speak to her tiny bird. She grabbed a mattress and began to tug it up to design a wall to block off the rest of the alley, then glided up over it and stabilized it so it wouldn't fall over on her. She then tugged the boxes into a pile and cleaned off one of the remaining mattress's that she then plopped onto. She folded her arms under her head and stared up at the sky. She hoped it wouldn't rain tonight. She wouldn't have much protection if it did.
